Event Series Event Series: The Legend of Sleepy Hollow

The one-man show extravaganza is coming back to Palmer Lake this October!

Set in 1790 in a secluded glen known as Sleepy Hollow, the story focuses on the mysterious disappearance of Ichabod Crane, a lanky, superstitious schoolmaster. Crane is wooing Katrina Van Tassel, the daughter of a wealthy farmer. But his competition, Abraham “Brom Bones” Van Brunt, wages a campaign of harassment against the schoolmaster, plaguing him with a series of pranks and practical jokes.

One autumn night, Ichabod proposes to Katrina, but is rejected. He leaves heartbroken and rides home on a borrowed horse named Gunpowder where he comes upon a cloaked rider he believes is the legendary Headless Horseman. Ichabod rides for his life from the apparition, who is wearing a pumpkin on his head. The next morning, Gunpowder is found, but Ichabod has mysteriously disappeared, leaving Katrina to marry Brom Bones.

The true events of that night are left open to interpretation. Was the Horseman really Brom in disguise, using a Jack-o’-lantern as a false head? Did Crane survive the fall from Gunpowder and flee Sleepy Hollow in horror? Let your imagination run wild during this classic play!
