| $28 – $34Our Town has been described by writer Edward Albee as “…the greatest American play ever written.” First performed in 1938, the play has gone on to numerous revivals on Broadway and countless productions in theaters large and small around the world. Our Town won the Pulitzer Prize for its author, Thornton Wilder.
The story follows characters in the fictional town of Grover’s Corners, New Hampshire, through events such as “Daily Life”, “Love & Marriage”, and “Death and Eternity”. The staging is famously minimal, and the action is narrated by a person known only as the Stage Manager. The deceptively simple structure of Our Town veils the profound question at its heart: What is it like to be a human being during our short time on Earth?
Moving, universal, and complex, the play reminds us of our shared humanity.
