UCCS Student Production: The Ghost Sonata

Secrets and lies echo through every dream in August Strindberg’s The Ghost Sonata, a haunting tale of illusion, guilt, and decaying respectability. When a student enters a wealthy household led by a mysterious benefactor, the truth unravels in redolent fragments. Featuring UCCS Theatre & Dance students, this expressionist and symbolist classic explores the masks we wear, the ghosts we carry, and the truths we’d rather not face. Uncanny, poetic, magical, and deeply human.
Written by August Strindberg and Directed by Kevin Landis.
This production contains themes of death, betrayal, and psychological manipulation. If you have questions about the material or wish to read a copy of the work in advance, please email klandis@uccs.edu.
The Ghost Sonata will be accompanied by a professional music trio, led by the cellist, Pamela Chaddon, violinist Elisa Wicks, and Simon Jacobs on keyboard. We encourage you to come early, since the chamber music will begin 15 minutes before each performance.
Chaddon and Landis will lead a conversation about the works of Bach and Strindberg following each performance.
