JUNE 8
Next, on June 8, AFF presents the American Workshop Premiere of LYONESSE, a bold new play by Penelope Skinner. The UK production of Lyonesse recently wrapped a sold-out run at the Harold Pinter Theatre on London’s West End. Starring Kristin Scott Thomas and Lily James, critics called the show “fascinating… startlingly funny” (The Independent); plus “…Genius!” “Phenomenal,” and “Magic…”
This passionate, searingly funny play centers on a once-famous actress who disappears under mysterious circumstances just at the peak of professional triumph. Thirty years later, she finally reemerges ready to tell her story. To assist with her glorious comeback, she summons a young film executive to her remote home on the coast of Maine. The film executive, profoundly transformed by the encounter, vows to shepherd the project forward with utmost care. However, to keep control of the story, the two women must fight a rising tide of cultural and interpersonal resistance. Directed by Renee Prince, the American Workshop Premiere of Lyonesse features actors Brian Landis Folkins, Shelly Marolt, Libby Rife, Eileen Seeley, and Brittany Dean Welch.
