Breathing Healing… is a four week performance series and healing journey in collaboration with Cinnamon Kills First mapping the buildup to the 1884 Sand Creek Massacre through sites throughout Denver and Boulder, culminating in a full day pilgramage to the Sand Creek Massacre Historic Site in southern Colorado.

Breathing Healing into the Banks of Sand Creek intersects Indigenous and Western approaches to storytelling, performance, and participatory ceremonial event design, in a complex, contemplative, spiritually transformative experience intended to fundamentally shift how participants relate to this land, its history, and its people.

Through multiple excursions to sites linked to the buildup and aftermath of the 1864 Sand Creek Massacre throughout Denver and Boulder and a cumulative pilgrimage to the Massacre’s national historic site in Southern Colorado, Breathing Healing explores how we can acknowledge and heal together.Breathing Healing is led by Cinnamon Kills First, a Sand Creek survivor descendant and Northern Cheyenne word warrior and healer, in collaboration with Control Group Productions, Bill Tall Bull and Laurie Rungstein.
