From Rome to Buenos Aires

Denver audiences will have a rare chance this December to hear the bandoneon—the expressive Argentine cousin of the accordion—an instrument rarely heard live in the U.S. performed by one of the world’s foremost masters of the instrument, Mario Stefano Pietrodarchi. The Boulder Chamber Orchestra (BCO) brings its acclaimed Gift of Music holiday concert, From Rome to Buenos Aires, to Denver for a special matinee performance.
The program travels from Rome to Buenos Aires, featuring the music of Ennio Morricone, Astor Piazzolla, and Roberto Di Marino’s Suite Mediterranea for Bandoneon and Orchestra, written especially for Pietrodarchi. The concert also features pianist Adam Piotr Żukiewicz in Bach’s Concerto in D Minor, and a radiant string arrangement of Florence Price’s Adoration.
With its mix of cinematic Italian melodies, sultry Argentine rhythms, and timeless classics, From Rome to Buenos Aires offers a vivid musical journey perfect for the holiday season—and a rare chance to experience the Boulder Chamber Orchestra live in Denver.
