South Pacific

Based on James A. Michener’s 1947 Pulitzer Prize-winning book Tales of the South Pacific, Rodgers and Hammerstein’s South Pacific remains as timely, heartbreaking, and thought-provoking as ever.
Set during World War II, the musical follows two intercultural love stories. U.S. Navy nurse Nellie Forbush wrestles with her own prejudice as she falls for French planter Emile de Becque, while U.S. Lieutenant Cable is drawn to a beautiful island native named Liat. Both Americans struggle to reconcile their cultural biases with their feelings of love, all under the looming shadow of war that threatens their island paradise.
Backed by one of Broadway’s most lush and unforgettable scores—including “Some Enchanted Evening,” “I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Outa My Hair,” “Younger Than Springtime,” “There Is Nothin’ Like a Dame,” and “Bali Ha’i”—South Pacific blends romance, humor, and the hard truths of war.
The cast features Sarah Kit Farrell as Nellie Forbush, Jeremy Rill as Emile De Beque, Joyce Cole as Bloody Mary, Burke Walton as Lt. Joe Cable, Jeff Parker as Luther Billis, and 20 other talented actors and singers.
