Step on Me

Based on the short by Lisa Wagner Erickson, which the Boston Globe called, “… a hilarious play that toys with one woman’s obsession with her bathroom scale,” STEP ON ME: Stacy & Her Scale, A Cautionary Tale follows aspiring influencer Stacy as she tries to take to control a twisted relationship with her bathroom scale, only to discover Scale has other plans. As their S&M-ish relationship spirals out of control in a fever dream of physical comedy, songs like “A Low BMI Gets Me High,” and drag-inspired movement, Stacy comes face-to-face with the fallout from her obsessions.
Directed by Em Perez, actors Veronica Straight-Lingo and John-Christian Maheu brought the house down in an April performance of the short play at Meow Wolf, winning the Best Cast award in an evening produced by Jefferson Arca’s Cheeky Monkey Productions. The duo will flex their comedic prowess in June for an unforgettable show in the Denver Fringe Festival and at Boulder’s Junkyard Social Club.
