Paul Stroili to appear in his play A Jukebox for the Algonquin
(press release)
Golden, Colo., Feb. 14, 2024 – Prepare for a wild ride as the residents of Placid Pines Senior Care Center rewrite the narrative of senior living with their latest endeavor: A Jukebox for the Algonquin – an award-winning comedy set for its regional premiere at Miners Alley Performing Arts Center March 1st-April 7th.
A Jukebox for the Algonquin, a Wilde Award Winner for ‘Best New Play of 2023/2024’ tells the tale of its vibrant residents from Brooklyn and the Bronx that decide its community room could really use a jukebox. However, when it costs more than they can raise, they hatch a plot to prove that aging is not a New York state of mind. In the Algonquin room, age is just a number.

Paul Stroili
“A Jukebox for the Algonquin is a celebration of life, love, and the timeless spirit of adventure,” said Len Matheo, Show Director. “It’s a reminder that age is just a number and that the greatest stories are often written by those who refuse to conform to society’s expectations. Miners Alley is thrilled to bring it to Golden, and welcome Paul Stroili, an award-winning actor and playwright, who both wrote and will perform in A Jukebox for the Algonquin!”
Stroili previously premiered A Jukebox for the Algonquin August 2023 at The Purple Rose Theatre Company in Chelsea, Mich., founded by award-winning actor, Jeff Daniels. The play received high acclaim, including EncoreMichigan.com stating: “Stroili’s writing is the star of this new play… He has a gift for writing dialogue full of natural, authentic detail.”
“Jukebox is not a play about old people; it’s about fascinating, vital people who are just not quite ready to go ‘gentle into that good night.’ They are far more interested in rocking the house,” said Paul Stroili. “I’m delighted that the amazing team at Miners Alley have embraced the show, and I could not think of a finer place for its regional premiere.”
