Drawn from the author’s memoirs, this mostly true story paints a complex and empathetic picture of an eccentric, genteel vagrant Miss Shepard, who parks her van in Alan Bennett’s driveway, and at the center of his life, and moral consciousness, for what would become fifteen years. Bennett’s middle-class world comes into hilarious collision with the world of Miss Shepherd, as the story of her life, and her stubborn resolve tugs our heartstrings in the direction of compassion.
