Established in 1981 by the visionary real estate developer John W. Madden Jr., his wife Marjorie P. Madden, and their daughter Cynthia Madden Leitner, the Museum of Outdoor Arts (MOA) has been a pioneering force in the integration of site-specific sculpture within the Colorado landscape. Rather than confining art within traditional gallery walls, MOA’s extensive collection is strategically placed in various public spaces throughout the Denver metropolitan area, transforming ordinary environments into open-air artistic experiences.

From corporate office parks to lush botanic gardens, vibrant city parks, and dedicated sculpture gardens, MOA’s carefully curated artworks seamlessly interpret and enliven these spaces, creating a “museum without walls.” This innovative approach allows art to become an integral part of everyday life, accessible to all who traverse these public realms.

At its core, MOA upholds a steadfast mission to make art an integral part of the community’s daily experience, believing in the power of public art to enrich lives, spark conversations, and foster a deeper appreciation for creativity in its myriad forms.
