Season includes a world premiere, comedies, musicals and more

AURORA, COLORADO. Classical musicals, regional premiers, and imaginative collaborations abound in Vintage Theatres 2024-2025 Season. The full season was announced on Saturday, April 27th, at the annual gala.
August 23 – September 22, 2024. The new season begins with the World Premiere of Della Doucet, written by Kirsten Dahl and directed by Paul Jaquith. Winner of the 2023 Vintage New Play Festival, this romantic comedy is set in the 1980s art world of New York.
September 20 – October 20, 2024. Artistic Director Bernie Cardell helms the second play of the season: Agatha Christie’s Murder on the Orient Express, adapted for the stage by Ken Ludwig. This complex classic led by masterful detective Hercule Poirot promises to delight mystery lovers and book lovers alike.
October 11 – November 17, 2024. Next in the season line up is co-presentation with Give 5 Productions: Murder for Two, with book by Kellen Blair and Joe Kinosian and lyrics by Kellen Blair. Julia Tobey directs the remount, which originally enjoyed a sold out run at the PACE Center in 2023. The comedic, murderous marathon features music and a rotating cast of 13 memorable characters, played by Brandon Bill and Blake Nawa’a reprising their roles.
November 29 – December 29, 2024. Jo Bunton Keel directs Black Nativity by Langston Hughes. The joyous holiday musical is a modern retelling of the Nativity story from an African-American perspective, using gospel music, African beats, dramatic dance, and a biblical narrative.
December 2 – 31, 2024. The season welcomes back a Denver holiday tradition: Jenny Weiss as Cindy Lou Who! Who’s Holiday! by Matthew Lombardo is a hilarious tour-de-force solo show that details the exploits of Cindy and The Grinch. Heather Frost directs this holiday gem that returns for the fourth year.
January 10 – January 19, 2025. Audiences will be able to accentuate the positive in January with The Andrews Sisters when they enjoy Sisters of Swing, by Bob Beverage & Beth Gilleland. Stephanie Faatz-Murry directs this co-presentation with Ovation West. This biographical musical features more than 20 songs from The Andrew Sisters’ catalog. The show will open at Vintage and then move to Ovation West (Centre Stage in Evergreen.)
January 17 – February 23, 2025. Action and adventure abound in She Kills Monsters, by Qui Nyguen. Samantha Saunders directs this co-presentation with Insight Colab. A Dungeons and Dragons notebook and its secrets guide this fantasy-centered piece.
February 14 – March 23, 2025. On Valentine’s Day, Vintage opens Guys & Dolls, with book by Abe Burrows and Jo Swerling and music by Frank Loesser. Bernie Cardell directs this classic musical comedy about luck and love that takes audiences from the horse track to Havana.
March 21 – April 27, 2025. March brings the regional premiere of Grand Horizons, by Bess Wohl. Luke Rahmsoff-Terry co-directs this comedy/drama with Bernie Cardell. Set in the Grand Horizons Senior Living Community, this piece features performances by Deb Persoff and Bernie Cardell.
May 2 – June 8, 2025. In May, Jennifer Schmitz directs the musical Ride the Cyclone, by Jacob Richmond and Brooke Maxwell. Each member of an ill-fated chamber choir takes a turn telling a story in hopes of winning a ticket to return to life. This gripping dark comedy will take audiences on a roller coaster of emotions.
May 30 – June 29, 2025. The June production will be decided by local directors submitting proposals that will be voted on by Vintage audiences.
June 20 – 29, 2025. To close the 2024-2025 season, Bernie Cardell will direct Follies in concert. With a book by James Goldman and music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, this sophisticated musical centers on a reunion of performers in a crumbling theatre.
