Henriette wants to be the first lady in 1830s Europe to climb Mont Blanc. Erin wants to be the first trans woman to ascend the Seven Summits. And MT wants to get through a bouldering class without embarrassing herself. Three true stories of women pushing their limits and meeting their edge.
Producing Artistic Director of Breckenridge Backstage Theatre Jacqueline Stone (Director) and acclaimed Chicago Playwright MT Cozzola (Writer/Performer) team up to bring the world premiere workshop of A Lady’s Guide to Mountains to the Denver Fringe Festival. This story celebrates the outdoor culture of CO and features the stories of real-life Denver native Erin, a trans climber making it a unique fit for Denver audiences and the festival. The production will be a tour de force with 3 diverse and talented performers taking on multiple roles, engagement with the audience through moments of direct address storytelling, and the celebration of community through honest and intimate staging. These are true stories that the playwright has woven together to highlight women climbers through history, creating captivating journeys with an accessible and modern entry point for audience members. The journey is full of surprises, laughs, and honest pain. It’s an event not to be missed. Together Stone and Cozzola have over 25 years of extremely robust professional experience from Off-Broadway all the way to The Second City (Chicago). It marks their fourth collaboration together over the last 8 years.
