We continue to grow in our mission to support live theatre in our state.
2024 was another year of impressive growth for OnStage Colorado. We grew our correspondent base to 12 regular reviewers around the state, culminating in the publication of exactly 200 reviews. That’s up 25% since 2023, and it’s more than any other news outlet in Colorado by a large margin.
We kicked off the year with our first ever OnStage Colorado Awards for Theatrical Excellence, which we dubbed “The OSCA’s.” We’ll be back Jan. 19 with awards for all of the shows the OSC Review Crew saw and wrote about in 2024, so stay tuned for that.
Also in 2024:
- We posted 43 podcast episodes, and while we’re still pretty small compared to, say, Joe Rogan, we did boost our listeners by 88% this year. Mostly, Toni Tresca and I just really enjoyed having lots of great conversations with Colorado theatre people and doing our weekly rundown of shows. If you’re interested in listening along, you can find our pod on Apple Podcasts or Spotify as well as on our site.
- We published 54 newsletters and increased our subscriber base to almost 1,000. The Theatre Blast goes out most Thursdays and includes the latest reviews, our Top 10 Colorado Headliners and more. You can easily subscribe here.
- The OnStage Colorado website saw about 96,000 users over the year, with 260,000 pageviews.
- John Moore at the Denver Gazette honored us with one of his True West Awards this December. His writeup was based in part on another story he did about us in August. Thanks to John for all that recognition!
I’d like to give a shout-out and a huge thanks to our volunteer contributors this year, who helped us get to those 200 shows:
- Alice Kaderlan
- April Tooke
- Eric Fitzgerald
- Jimmesha Lenhoff
- Judith Sears
- Julie Walker
- Kari Redmond
- Kevin Douglas
- Kim Nicoletti
- Leila Einhorn
- Susan Harper
- Tami Matthews
- Toni Tresca

Alex Miller, left, and Toni Tresca co-host the weekly OnStage Colorado Podcast.
2025
As many shows as we covered, we’re still hoping to get to more in 2025 — especially outside the Front Range. If you or someone you know can write and loves theatre and happens to be in Southern Colorado, any of the mountain towns or out on the Western Slope, please shoot me an email!
We’re also looking for volunteers to help with social media, podcast editing, SEO and WordPress admin. The more help we get, the more shows we can cover; the more shows we cover, the more seats get filled; the more seats get filled, the healthier the theatre is — and that means more shows to see! If you’d like to be part of the OSC mission, let’s talk.
Finally, if you’re interested in helping support us, you can do so here. Any amount is appreciated to offset costs. I got all disciplined this year and tracked my mileage — it added up to about 4,100 miles to see theatre! That’s almost $500 just in gas for one reviewer, plus all kinds of other expenses like parking, software, hosting services and a ton of time and you can see that this effort is significant.
I’m looking forward to a busy 2025 for live theatre in Colorado, and from all of us here at OnStage Colorado, we wish you a Happy New Year!
