Lineup includes Mozart, Terrence McNally and a Colorado legend

CENTRAL CITY, CO – Central City Opera has announced its 94th festival season, scheduled to run from June 27 through August 2, 2026.

The season will feature three main productions: Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro, a revival of The Ballad of Baby Doe, and Terrence McNally's Master Class.

The Ballad of Baby Doe will mark two anniversaries – Colorado's 150th birthday and the 70th anniversary of the opera's debut at Central City Opera. The work, set during Colorado's mining era, premiered on the company's stage in 1956.

McNally's Master Class centers on opera singer Maria Callas and includes arias by Puccini, Verdi, and Bellini. The production represents a return to the festival's early tradition of presenting plays alongside operas.

The season will also include CCO in Concert performances on July 10 and 11, featuring the Central City Opera Orchestra and festival singers.

"This season offers audiences an extraordinary range of artistic experiences," said Adam Scurto, Managing Director of External Affairs.

Festival subscriptions are currently available for renewal, with new subscribers able to join a waitlist. Subscription packages start at $76 for all three main productions. Single tickets will go on sale in April 2026, starting at $34.

Founded in 1932, Central City Opera operates as a summer festival in the historic mining town of Central City, Colorado. More information is available at centralcityopera.org or by calling 303-292-6700.
