How many times have you made a move early in a scene that you immediately dropped because your scene partner made a different move? Has the need to invent something new ever made you forget about what you already discovered? In this workshop, you’ll work on recognizing your first move, re-committing to it after the specific circumstances of the scene become clear, and doubling down on it throughout the scene, even as you discover other shiny new objects.

Alex Nichols has been improvising since 2005, when he founded his high school’s improv team. In Chicago, he was a member of several Harold teams at iO and performed at theaters around the city including The Playground, the Annoyance, and CIC, where he co-produced a weekly show with his independent team, Law Dog. He now performs regularly at RISE Comedy as a member of the shortform team Laugh Track and as one half of the longform duo Wrong Matt.
