A power-filled interactive (if you feel like it) theater experience. In the role of the Witness, each audience member is transformed into a character in the play, whether virtually or physically. The unfolding story is an invitation to visit the origin stories of 5 generations while considering their own. Based on the author’s research into her family’s history and featuring original songs, this play honors the gift of sacrifice and celebrates the many ways we show love and care. From the sugar cane fields of Jamaica to a garden on Long Island, she travels through her own lineage, imagining what her ancestors might pass on to her if they could still speak. It is an opportunity to connect with one’s past, find an anchor in the present and bridge between worlds through a discovery of womanhood, a revelation of motherhood, and the birthing of legacy.
