The Colorado Springs company’s first season under new dual leadership includes ‘Sweeney Todd,’ two Pulitzer Prize-winning dramas and a new collaboration with the Colorado Springs Philharmonic.
Colorado Springs’ Theatreworks has announced its 2026-27 season, a five-show lineup featuring a Tony-winning Sondheim musical, two Pulitzer Prize-winning dramas and works by noted contemporary playwrights.
The season is the first programmed under the company’s new dual leadership structure, with General Director Matt Giles and Artistic Director Max Shulman sharing programming duties.
The season opens in September with Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, directed by Michael Lluberes, followed in November by Noël Coward’s comedy Private Lives. The new year brings Heidi Schreck’s What the Constitution Means to Me, directed by Lynne Hastings, and in April, Lynn Nottage’s Pulitzer Prize-winning Sweat, directed by Taisa Jones. The season closes in June with Dear Elizabeth, adapted by Sarah Ruhl from letters exchanged between poets Elizabeth Bishop and Robert Lowell, directed by Shulman.
All performances take place at the Ent Center for the Arts on the University of Colorado Colorado Springs campus. Early bird season subscriptions with 20% savings are available now at entarts.org/subscribe. Single tickets for Sweeney Todd go on sale in July.
The 2026-27 season also marks the debut of Counterpoint, a new collaboration with the Colorado Springs Philharmonic pairing orchestral performances with theatrical storytelling.
