The company’s 62nd season includes Shakespeare, Noël Coward and a musical comedy.
Creede Repertory Theatre has announced its 2027 season, its 62nd, with four mainstage productions and a slate of education programs.
“CRT’s 2027 season invites audiences to look beyond the obvious, question what they think they know, and discover the unexpected,” said Artistic Director Emily Van Fleet. She added that the four productions show “there’s almost always more to the story — and that taking the time to look a little closer can change the way we see the world.”
The mainstage lineup
A Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare opens the season May 29 and runs through Sept. 4 at the Ruth Humphreys Brown Theatre. Seven actors perform Shakespeare’s comedy of young lovers who flee Athens for the woods, where the fairy Puck and a band of amateur actors blur illusion and reality.
Blithe Spirit by Noël Coward runs June 5-Sept. 11 at the Mainstage Theatre. Novelist Charles Condomine invites the medium Madame Arcati to his home, and she accidentally summons his first wife, Elvira, a ghost only Charles can see. Anne Faith Butler plays Madame Arcati.
Once Upon a Mattress runs July 3-Sept. 5 at the Mainstage Theatre. The musical comedy has music by Mary Rodgers, lyrics by Marshall Barer and a book by Jay Thompson, Dean Fuller and Barer. It retells “The Princess and the Pea,” following Winnifred the Woebegone as she faces the tests set by Queen Aggravain to win Prince Dauntless.
The Lifespan of a Fact by Jeremy Kareken, David Murrell and Gordon Farrell, based on the book by John D’Agata and Jim Fingal, runs July 17-Sept. 18 at the Ruth Humphreys Brown Theatre. The dark comedy follows a magazine editor, a writer and a young fact checker in a dispute over facts versus truth. Kate Berry plays editor Emily Penrose.
Education programs
CRT marks 25 years of its KID Show program with Scruff Turbo and the Children of the Future, a sci-fi adventure with book and lyrics by T. Jefferson Carey and music by Jessica Jackson. Performances are July 30, 31 and Aug. 1 at the Ruth Humphreys Brown Theatre.
The 44th annual Young Audience Outreach Tour will present Shooting Stars and Rabbit Holes, with book and lyrics by Noemi de la Puente and music by Fernanda Douglas. The pair also wrote 2025’s Raquel’s Purple Pineapple Adventures. The new show follows two best friends whose bond is tested when one gets a smartphone. Tour dates were not announced.
Day camps return in June for students from pre-K through 12th grade. Offerings include Shakespeare for Kids, Scene Study, Action Story Time and a Matisse-themed camp with Creede Center for the Arts. Registration for camps and the KID Show opens in January.
