Discounts apply to Pump Boys and Dinettes and the upcoming Taco Town.
Citing rising costs and a desire to keep theatre accessible, Miners Alley Performing Arts Center in Golden is slashing ticket prices by as much as 25% for the remainder of its current production of Pump Boys and Dinettes and the upcoming world premiere of Taco Town.
The announcement came in a letter to patrons from Executive Director Lisa DeCaro and Director of Storytelling and Community Engagement Len Matheo, who framed the decision as a response to economic pressures squeezing audiences.
“Gas prices are up. Grocery prices are up. Going out to dinner can feel like a luxury,” they wrote. “Everywhere we look, families and individuals are being asked to stretch every dollar further than ever before. We feel it too.”
The discounts run across the board for both shows. Pump Boys and Dinettes, the toe-tapping country-flavored musical directed by Abby Apple Boes, is currently running through June 14. Taco Town, a new comedy by Luke Sorge — whose previous play National Bohemians premiered at Miners Alley — follows later this summer.
DeCaro and Matheo noted the company has been “incredibly fortunate” in recent years while many arts organizations have struggled, and said the price cut reflects gratitude as much as economic reality.
“At least for these next two productions, we want to do our part to make it easier for you to keep coming to the theatre you love,” they wrote. “We’ll re-evaluate things in the fall, but right now this feels like the right thing to do.”
