Jeremy Haig’s grassroots venture plans ‘Venus in Fur’ for December 2026, followed by ‘Red’ next May.
A new grassroots theatre company has announced its formation in the Denver/Aurora area, with plans to stage intimate productions of psychologically driven plays beginning in late 2026.
The Other Road Theater Project, founded by director, designer and producer Jeremy Haig, will open with David Ives’ Venus in Fur in December 2026, followed by John Logan’s Red in May 2027. Both are two-handers built around shifting power dynamics — Ives’ play pits an actress against the director auditioning her, while Logan’s drama centers on painter Mark Rothko and his young assistant.
The company’s tagline is “Stories from a Different Perspective,” and Haig says he’s aiming for work that “feels immediate, human and deeply present.”
“Colorado already has an incredible and diverse theater landscape, from large-scale musicals and beloved classics to new works, community productions and experimental performance,” Haig said in the announcement. “I see The Other Road as one more voice in that ecosystem, focused on intimate plays that ask audiences to lean in, wrestle with complexity and see familiar stories from a different angle.”
Haig currently serves as vice president and production manager at Bright Heart Stages, where he was assistant director on the company’s March 2026 production of Bonnie & Clyde and will return as production manager for The Wild Party in September 2026. He’s also production manager for Shifted Lens Theater Company’s 2026/27 season, which kicks off with Stranger Sings: The Parody Musical on Halloween 2026. Haig co-founded Page to Stage Consulting LLC, which works with local theatres on marketing and production management.
The Other Road Theater Project will use a pay-what-you-can ticketing model with prices ranging from $20 to $42 — an approach Haig credits to Shifted Lens. The company plans to operate in black-box and flexible spaces rather than building toward a permanent home.
A full production announcement for Venus in Fur is expected later. More information is at theotherroadtheater.com.
