Theater 29, a collective of playwrights producing their own work in Denver, announced it was closing for good this week. Here’s the note from founder Lisa Wagner Erickson:

Dearest Friends of Theater 29,
With a heavy heart, I announce that our doors are closing. It recently became clear that the financial obligations of keeping the venue open are unsustainable.
Thank you to all playwrights, theatre artists, actors, directors, sound designers, and visual artists who contributed your time and talents. And a special thank you to Ellen K. Graham for your vision, dedication, and skill. This endeavor would not have been possible without you.
Yes, the venue is closing. However, a majority of the playwrights and creative artists who have been a part of Theater 29 are still around. Please continue supporting these artists and their imaginative and original work.
In gratitude,
Lisa Wagner Erickson
