Theatre Artibus caps Curious Kids Series season with two free family shows at The Savoy Denver

Myths, Mops & Mischief and BETC’s MAD LIBrarians close out the pay-what-you-can series July 25 and Aug. 2 at The Savoy Denver.

DENVER — Theatre Artibus is closing out its 2026 Curious Kids Series with two interactive family performances at The Savoy Denver: Myths, Mops & Mischief on Saturday, July 25, at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., and Boulder Ensemble Theatre Company’s MAD LIBrarians on Sunday, Aug. 2, at 11 a.m.

All Curious Kids performances take place at The Savoy Denver in Curtis Park. Tickets are offered on a sliding scale from free to $12, with every family receiving the same experience so they can choose the price that works best for them.

The series is produced by Theatre Artibus with support from Denver Arts & Venues through Denver Creates, helping make high-quality, affordable live theater accessible to Denver families. Tickets and information are available at theartibus.com/events.

Designed for young people ages 4 to 11 and their grownups, the Curious Kids Series features original Colorado performances filled with puppetry, physical theater, storytelling, magic and hands-on fun. Since launching in February 2026, the series has welcomed more than 500 children and caregivers to The Savoy for seven original productions by Colorado artists so far.

Myths, Mops & Mischief features Rufus, a museum custodian with an oversized imagination, who transforms a janitor’s cart and everyday cleaning supplies into epic Greek myths. Through inventive puppetry and physical comedy, mops become monsters and plungers become heroes. The show is performed by Christopher Keller and co-created with Birgitta De Pree.

In BETC’s MAD LIBrarians, presented by Boulder Ensemble Theatre Company, audience suggestions become brand-new book titles and hilarious improvised stories in a library that simply can’t keep quiet. Every performance is unique.

As a small independent theater company, Theatre Artibus is working to keep the Curious Kids Series growing and accessible.

“The response to our first season has been incredibly encouraging,” said Meghan Frank, co-founder of Theatre Artibus. “Now we need consistent funding to keep tickets affordable and provide a platform for Colorado artists to create original theater for young audiences.”
