Theatre Artibus and the GES Coalition present a free, one-night participatory performance Sept. 25 at Cleo Parker Robinson Dance.

Theatre Artibus will present Not Here! Not Anywhere! You’re Next …, a free participatory play and community conversation about data center development in Denver’s Globeville and Elyria-Swansea neighborhoods, for one night only Friday, Sept. 25.

The original play was created and performed by community members through Theatre Artibus’ ArtibusED Applied Theatre in Action series. It is the culmination of a six-week workshop that brought together artists, students and community organizers. Organizers say audience members will be asked to take part in the performance and to search for alternatives as the piece unfolds.

The play centers on CoreSite’s plans for a three-building data center campus in Elyria-Swansea. According to organizers, the first of the three CoreSite DE3 buildings has been built, and residents working through the GES Coalition are organizing to stop the remaining two. Organizers describe the neighborhood as one that has dealt with more than a century of highways, heavy industry and pollution.

The GES Coalition is calling for lasting protections related to the energy, water, diesel-generator, pollution and infrastructure impacts of data center development. Its list of community demands is posted at ges-coalition.org. Organizers say they want Denver’s data center moratorium to lead to longer-term protections.

Pasta will be available at 6:30 p.m., with the performance following at 7 p.m. The event is free, and RSVPs are encouraged.
